Driving to Orlando in an Orlando

In the last few weeks, I've had a number of people ask about our crazy Orlando (in an Orlando) adventure. Yes, Daddy Crumb and myself drove with three children to Florida from Canada.

And we survived.

I wrote about our adventure over on Bunchfamily.ca and thought it might be nice to link to those updates all in one spot.

Have you driven to Orlando with kids?  Was your adventure anything like this?  Would you offer any advice to those considering it?

  1. If have never done such a road trip. I think it's awesome that you guys did it and as you say "survived". I guess advice that I would give, even though I have no clue really, is to have a solid plan. Even with plans things aren't perfect, but at least there is some sort of order. yup, that's what I would say.

  2. Ya. We drove Ottawa to Orlando last summer. The drive was actually quite nice. The kids (3 of them) actually seemed to enjoy it. The nightmare was Orlando! Couldn't wait to point the wheels north and get back home. That being said, the secret to travelling with kids happens years before you embark on any trip. Talk to them. Listen to them. Hang out with them. They tune in to you and it becomes a roadtr with friends (with 3 times more bathroom breaks!

  3. You're a stronger woman than you've ever given yourself credit for Cynth!! I can only imagine the brilliant chaos that ensued on that roadtrip, but it's an experience you and your kidlets will remember forever! Some of the best laughs and the best conversations come out of roadtrips. And always remember that it's about the journey, not just the destination!

  4. @Anonymous (although I do know who you are {grin}) - Planning with kids is always a good idea - I agree - but still being flexible is important. Roll with the punches!

@Dolje74 - "Sucker for punishment" might be a better phrase! LOL! But thanks. :)

@BernForest - Of course you'd have a nice drive down there because you have an amazing family! I can imagine the antics you all got up to! :)

@EmmaB - Thanks, Emms. They do remember it. In fact, it has now set the bar far too high for travelling with them! They expect VIP treatment! LOL! But it was really a lot of fun. :)
