I'm having a tough time this week with the transition from summer adventures back into "real life". School starts next week and I ramp up my own freelance writing work again so I'm counting down the hours when the fall routine kicks in.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of reasons why I love this time of year, not the least of which is the opportunity to actually have some time to consider more adult pursuits. But I've become pretty accustomed to a lazy start to each day with the kids: the leisurely pace of morning swim lessons, afternoon tennis lessons (plus more swimming) and lots of fun and goofing around in between. We've had what feels like about seven hundred trips this summer (I'm clearly exaggerating) and I'm still catching up on laundry and housework.
So what to do when Mom feels like this? Well, my first thought is usually find some great music, turn it up loud and dance around the house with the kids. That often gets my blood flowing and my mood turned around. I have been listening to Beyonce's Love on Top since watching her amazing performance on the VMAs Sunday night but since there's no easy video to be found for that online, here's another Beyonce track that makes us all get off our bums (for the record, I love this whole Move Your Body program):
