I usually find myself supporting the artistic endeavours of my almost nine year old daughter. She naturally gravitates to creating things. The boys, who are three and five, have taken far less interest in these kinds of activities. I can get them to colour the occasional colouring page if it’s the correct Star Wars character (“Mom, I didn’t want that one of Anakin, he’s not holding his sabre the way I like and I don’t like his face in this one!”) Goodness.
So I was thrilled when they got really engaged in a few new Crayola products today.
First, it was some serious bubble fun as they took to the backyard with Colored Bubbles. It freaked me out a little at first because, well, it looks like food colouring and, well, it got on them. A lot. Like this.
But the bubbles were coming out in colours (boys said “sooooo coool!”) and they didn’t mind getting a little messy (boys said “soooooo coool!”). Thankfully, they all washed up well.
Next up was sculpting. Max really took an interest in this one. It’s the Model Magic Presto Dots pack and you can create different animals by moulding the dough around an existing shape and then adding the “dots” to create the unique characters.
Max, who is five and generally a little on the, shall we say “energetic” side, stayed focused on this for a very long time. This became his masterpiece. And then the extra bits became a story. Snakes. Lots and lots of snakes. He was not only creating this little piece of work but using that strange little brain to develop storylines that I thought were hilarious. Of course, I’m a little biased…
Thanks, Crayola, for letting us check out a few of the newest products on the market! The boys love ‘em! And I’ll definitely be keeping these in mind for upcoming birthday gifts.

**As a Crayola Mom, I have the opportunity to try out some of the new products from Crayola from time to time. These were some of them.

Ooh I love those bubbles....so cool! Good to know that it comes off.
