Keller Williams released an album for kids in October 2010 (that seems so long ago now but it was just a few months ago!) that is simply adorably fun, funny and toe-tappin’ sweetness.
Keller, who has been putting out recordings in various incarnations since the mid-nineties, is an artist from Virginia whose music is a combination of many musical styles, including bluegrass, folk and funk. These are definitely sounds one can hear in his first album for kids.
My three think this collection of sweet tunes is fantastic. We particularly love the goofiness of tracks like Hula Hoop To Da Loop (which gets you shakin’) or Soakie Von Soakerman (I think this one’s my personal fave). I think if the kids had to choose their favourite track, though, it would be Mama Tooted. Yes, folks, a song about “mama”, who apparently isn’t ever supposed to release bodily noises of any kind, and when she does, it’s the most hilarious thing ever.
My kids die laughing every single time this track comes on. In fact, I even catch them singing it in their rooms and snickering under their breath.
Keller’s site (the kids section) is fantastic. You can head over there to explore and sample some of the tunes from this album, but in the meantime, here’s a little sample of Keller in a more intimate venue: at home singing (a Replacements tune, no less!) with his son Cabell. So sweet...

You know I love good kids' music :). I sing fun/silly/made-up songs all day long!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower now too (officially, I've been for a while!).
I embrace my inner child by dancing like no one is watching with my little man! Lots of fun.

Following you now too!! :)
To embrace my inner child, I make sure I play everyday. The kids in my classroom and who I provide programming too make it pretty easy by pulling me along with whatever they are expected to do.
ReplyDeleteI'm also following you now as well.

Entering once a day, of course!
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to embrace your inner child when you have a kid in the house -- Emily and I just play together all day! Dolls, legos, drawing, etc, all of the activities I loved as a kid.
I am a teacher so I embrace my inner kid every day as I spend all day with them! I would love to win a new children's CD to play for the students. :)
ReplyDeleteI never grew out of having a blankie! I had the same blankie from baby to 10 years old, and now I still use the blanket that I've had since I was 10. I embrace my inner child every time I go to bed!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I stay in my pyjamas all day -- reminds me of summer break!
ReplyDelete(Note: being a stay-at-home mom with a young toddler is what allows me to do that.. haha)
For breakfast I often eat Nutella (chocolate spread) on toast with a banana and a glass of milk (no coffee for me!), just like when I was young.
ReplyDeleteHmm.. it's starting to sound like I'm writing ways in which I *am* a child, not ways in which I *embrace my inner* child. Haha!
I embrace my inner kid by playing outside with my son and the neighbor kids. I am the only parent out there... I love it : )
ReplyDeleteI embrace my inner child by being amazed and amused by the simple things in life.
ReplyDeleteI love playing pretend with my little girl!
