Can't stop Babypants

I bet you didn’t know a President is releasing his third kids’ album this November?  Can you guess which President?  And why the heck would I be writing about it here on Crumbs?

Well, you know that we are committed to bringing you the finest in family-friendly music that doesn’t make you want to throw up and I’m so very pleased to share with you my latest discovery…and he’s a President.

A President of the United States of America.  And if you ever sang the words “millions of peaches, peaches for me” or “she’s lump, she’s lump, she’s lump, she’s in my head”, then you know the President I’m talking about.

Chris Ballew is the lead singer of PUSA and this magical pop-hook creator has taken it upon himself to write funny, sunny, catchy pop tunes for kids and their parents.  He goes by the name Caspar Babypants and he’s got some serious pop-silly going on.

I was fortunate to snag an advance copy of his third album, This Is Fun! and that is no word of a lie – the album is that same kind of great fun listeners have found on his first two kids’ albums.

There are so many fantastic feel-good folk-pop ditties that I have fallen for, from Baby’s Getting Up to Where Do You Go to The Frogs.  And can I just say that I love the fact that he sings Shoo Fly on this album?  The kids, having originally learned this during their Kindermusik classes recognized and danced around with me with their egg shakers singing how they feel like a morning star.  (yes, we own egg shakers, don’t you?)

I also chuckled hearing the cover of Nirvana’s Sliver on this album (actually featuring Krist Novoselic of Nirvana on the track) and couldn’t stop singing “Grandma take me home, Grandma take me home…”  It's all about the air guitar on this one.

No videos out yet for any tracks on this album but take a listen to an older song called The Island Hop. So simple, so kooky, so fun!
