If you've been reading this blog for a while (or if the header image is any indication) you know that we're clearly a family. A family that thinks we're a little bit musical.
We love music in oh-so-many ways: playing, listening, singing, groovin'... But I was thrown for a loop when Suvi was first born and I took a look around at the stuff being marketed as "children's music." Don't get me wrong - I love nursery rhymes, we sing children's songs but things like Barney could drive a woman to whack herself repeatedly with a meat tenderizer. Or at least a wet noodle.
So I took a look around and decided I wasn't going to take it. (I just wrote that and suddenly Twisted Sister came to mind...why is that?) ;)
Follow the link below and DJ CynthiaCrumb will share a few little (kid) gems:
We've noticed that Mirelle likes most music so we try to chose music we both like. Being labeled "children's music" isn't a criteria....
ReplyDeleteIt really is difficult to find kids music that a parent can tolerate!
ReplyDeleteTwisted Sister(s) was the name of my 7th grade soccer team. So I can say the group pops into my head more than it should....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions. My daughter somehow got a Kids Bop CD and lately she has been playing it over and over. I am tempted to "accidentally" scratch it. That wouldn't be bad, would it? I mean, come on! Kids Bop!!!
ReplyDelete(I think I left a comment on the actual music post but I'm not sure if it worked.)
LOVE your blog! I am now a "follower"
ReplyDeleteI own a blog/design/WAHM forum I'd love you to join called My Great Retreat (link is below). Can't wait to keep in touch!
