Two turntables and a microphone. Or just a microphone.

I have a bunch of (paid) writing to do.  I should really be working on it.  But I have discovered something on my new Mac.

Garageband.  So. Freaking. Cool.

People kept telling me I'd be all over Garageband when I got my Mac.  And, for the last month that I've had it, I've opened it about 20 times and each time I've stared at the screen feeling like the biggest idiot on the planet.  The thought process was something along the lines of "uh...what do I do now?"

I know.  How did I never pursue a PhD with these (blonde) brains?

Anyway, fast-forward to me and a phone call with my uncle (guitar player extraordinaire and experienced Mac and Garageband user) a few days back.  Yes, folks, I had to rely on someone over 20 years my senior to show me how to work a piece of software.  And thank goodness for him because I love it!

I don't even have instruments connected right now - I'm just doing everything with vocal tracks and effects.  Talk about one more thing to distract me from things I should be doing.  I can't even imagine how much I'll be hiding out once I actually hook up real instruments, too.  Sigh...

Anyway, I really should stop oooo-ing and aahhhh-ing into the computer and get back to work, considering I asked Daddy Crumb to put the kids to bed tonight so I could focus on my writing.  {snicker}

Anyone else use Garageband?    What do you think?

Oh, and for a lark, here's said uncle and I a few years back when I was 7 months pregnant with Max (hence the belly and generally swollen appearance).  Our family used to have these annual themed rock concerts and the theme that year was 'rock through the ages.'  My uncle was Slash and I was Kelly Osborne.   Yep.  We rock it, belly and all.  (note: cig in Slash's mouth is faux, for any concerned about pregnant mom inhaling...)

  8. Funny you should mention GarageBand. I just started teaching myself to play guitar with it last week. LOVE. IT. (although the guitar playing is major ouchies on the left fingers...do you play guitar like your awesome uncle? i've always wanted to learn, so GarageBand teacher it is) I also recorded my hideous voice a while back when I first got the new Mac. Curious how I'd sound as a diva. ;-) (still hideous btw)

    You are the coolest pregnant lassie there. And, your uncle as Slash...the cool factor must be a genetic thing with you. On a slightly side note, I once dodged Slash's spit at an AC/DC concert. He was the opening act and thought it way cool to hock lugies into the audience. Ack. Sickeningly, people were clamoring to get spit on.

    GarageBand - you'll love it. Just don't get carried away spitting at your computer.
